Paris Fashion Week SS 2015: Christian Dior

This past year has rolled around so fast its hard to believe its once again time for fashion weeks around the world. With Paris Fashion Week set to kick off the most fabulous time of the year, as expected we have certainly not been disappointed. Christian Dior showcased last week with their ready- to- wear collection, providing us an insight to what we can expect this Spring- thigh high boots with midi dresses and a heavily sixties influence. This collection Raf Simons played heavily with sequin detailing and feminine A-line shapes, elongating the legs by combining classic shift dress forms with thigh high latex boots. Guiding us through the Dior archives, we were also presented with shapely gowns, cut out neck lines and an eclectic mix of colours and patterns- proving to us that this Spring nothing is off limits. NYFW ’13: Ralph Lauren

Ok, so maybe it’s because I splurged on a gorgeous pair of Ralph Lauren jeans today, but I am absolutely loving the vibrancy and exotic Latin American and Spanish influences of this seasons collection presented at NYFW.

Me encanta!

I think it’s safe to say that RL pulled out all the stops this season, with the amount of ruffles, ponchos, shawls, fringes, cleverly designed hand shaped clutches, gold embellishments, jodhpurs, palazzo pants and LOTS of red, white, black and blue.

It really doesn’t help my burning desire to travel to spain. Vamos!

White Hot Spring 2013

Image

The return of the white shirt this spring is the perfect way to bring back simplicity, class and crispness to your wardrobe, and, despite the complete contrast, is a great transition colour throughout the seasons.

Previously considered the supporting article for on-trend items, the white shirt is expected to step out from the shadows and present itself full force this year!

So let’s ignore the typical monotones of winter and cast our excitement towards the anticipated return of this uber chic trend!

My personal favourite that I can’t wait to sport this year is the tailored shirt- one that is derived more from the mens work shirt. I think that, if worn correctly, it can add a combination of class and feminism to the completed look.

The best way to achieve this would be to pair the shirt with a form fitting pant (and some killer heels wouldn’t go astray!)

Combining this style with one that connotes to a contrasting vision, such as the edginess of spray on leather pants or liquid leggings, is a great way to spice up the outfit.

Besides, why should our outfits conform to one look when there are so many amazing styles out there?!

We’re halfway through the Australian summer, is it too early to be looking forward to Spring?

Fashion Palette: Spring/Summer 2012/13

I spent today with my best friend, immersed in the premier of the new seasons fashions at Sydney’s 2012/13 SS Fashion Palette. We were lucky enough to get front row seats, as we sat in awe at not only the serene, Grecian inspired pure white surroundings, but the gorgeous designs which were showcased for this up and coming season, which included the likes of ; Nicola Finetti, Wild Pony, Lauren Damelian,Baraka, Kabuklu, Wanni, and Bettina Liano just to name a few.

The dazzling show, centred with a three teared fountain, began with a live performance filled with singers and dancers.

Nicola Finetti was first up, with her collection, permeated with vibrant geometric shapes and colour blocking.

Wild Pony was a perfect exemplification of Summer time with the bright, youthful colours and feminine silhouettes.

Lauren Damelian employed the strategical use of draping in order to highlight a certain femininity and softness throughout her collection

Baraka’s classy collection consisted of incredibly detailed garments and perfect feminine shapes.

Kabukiu showcased a collection of kimono inspired garments, with light catching sequins and silky, lustrous fabrics, perfectly created to accentuate the female form.

We were quite excited when we returned to our seats to find a little black gift bag, perfectly packaged with a square box. Inside was a beautiful silken scarf. This became the personification of the Wanni collection, the colours, the simplicity and the elegance all merged into one to form this beautiful collection.

Bring on Fashion Week!
